Technical Programme Manager (Quantum Benchmarking)

Location: College Park, Maryland, United States; hybrid with a minimum of three days on site each week

Salary: $1–$1 USD base salary, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and maintain a government-quality integrated master schedule across multiple quantum computer development efforts.
• Track, forecast, and report risks affecting contractual milestones, ensuring early mitigation.
• Manage architecture, verification, and validation documentation with government evaluation teams.
• Plan the commissioning and delivery of quantum computers to government laboratory and customer sites.
• Organize customer site visits, technical reviews, and status reporting with the appropriate internal experts.

Requirements

• Strong grounding in quantum technology, ideally atomic, molecular, and optical physics.
• Approximately five years of broader technical experience working close to hardware.
• Experience as a technical program manager, project engineer, or systems engineer, including leadership across a matrixed organization.
• Ability to manage complex schedules and deliverables for technically sophisticated government customers.
• PhD in physics or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to obtain a US security clearance and meet US Person requirements for export-controlled and government-contract work.

Nice to have

• Experience with trapped-ion or other qubit technologies.
• Systems engineering experience on defense or government contracts.
• Experience with government test and evaluation teams or national laboratories.
• Experience building integrated master schedules for government customers.
• Active US security clearance.
