Staff Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Fully remote in Poland, Estonia, Spain, Lithuania, Portugal, Germany, or the Netherlands. An office option is available in Riga, Latvia.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture of search, retrieval, ranking, personalization, and recommendation systems for products and designs.
• Scale image generation and visual intelligence pipelines using multimodal models, diffusion models, computer vision, and deep learning.
• Build end-to-end ML products spanning model selection, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, serving pipelines, and frontend API integration.
• Connect clicks, conversions, sales, and other merchant outcomes to model training and generation logic.
• Define evaluation frameworks, A/B testing practices, inference strategies, and make-versus-buy decisions.
• Set applied ML standards, mentor senior individual contributors, and lead technical and design reviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building, deploying, and scaling production ML systems with staff-level technical leadership.
• Deep expertise in search, candidate generation, recommendation systems, Two-Tower models, ANN vector indexing, Transformer rerankers, and learning-to-rank.
• Hands-on experience with OpenCV, CNNs, Vision Transformers, diffusion models, multimodal LLMs, and CLIP.
• Fluency in Python, PyTorch, LangChain or LangGraph, FastAPI, event-driven processing, Flyte, CometML, and Snowflake.
• Experience with production ML serving, MLOps, closed-loop business metrics, and end-to-end technical ownership.
• Comfort using Gemini, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork for research, prototyping, system design, and production development.

Nice to have

• Experience in e-commerce, two-sided marketplaces, or creator platforms.
