Staff Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with remote work or office work available. Listed locations: Poland, Estonia, Spain, Lithuania, and Portugal. The Riga office is also available.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and scaling of candidate retrieval, ranking, personalization, and learning-to-rank systems for product and design recommendations.
• Develop image generation and visual intelligence pipelines using multimodal models, diffusion models, computer vision, and deep learning.
• Build closed-loop ML systems that connect clicks, conversions, sales, and merchant outcomes to model training and generation logic.
• Own end-to-end product development from model selection, fine-tuning, and prompt engineering to serving pipelines and frontend API integration.
• Define evaluation frameworks, oversee A/B testing, optimize inference, and guide make-versus-buy and self-hosting decisions.
• Set applied ML standards, mentor senior individual contributors, and lead design reviews across data science and machine learning engineering.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience building, deploying, and scaling production machine learning systems.
• Deep expertise in search, candidate generation, recommendation systems, Two-Tower models, ANN vector indexing, Transformer rerankers, and learning-to-rank algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with OpenCV, CNNs, Vision Transformers, diffusion models, multimodal LLMs, and CLIP.
• Strong Python and PyTorch experience, plus production serving with FastAPI, event-driven processing, MLOps, and cloud data warehouses.
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, Flyte, CometML, Snowflake, and vector databases such as Qdrant, Pinecone, or FAISS.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and ownership of end-to-end ML products, including AI-assisted development workflows.
