Data QA Practice Lead (Databricks)

What you will do

• Lead the Enterprise Data Warehouse QA practice, including QA Leads embedded in delivery teams, automation engineers, and the shared engineering pool.
• Improve the shift-left, test-driven operating model by integrating QA into backlog refinement, acceptance criteria, test design, and delivery stages.
• Define and report service level objectives covering first-pass quality, defect escape rate, and automated regression coverage.
• Set data quality CI/CD gate standards for accuracy, latency, performance, and security across environment promotions.
• Plan QA capacity across four delivery teams, manage sprint commitments, and represent QA in governance with US Enterprise Data stakeholders.
• Recruit, coach, evaluate, and develop QA Leads and engineers while owning onboarding, certification, and upskilling programs.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software or data quality assurance experience, including 4+ years leading QA teams in data engineering or data warehousing.
• Experience establishing or transforming a QA practice using shift-left or test-driven approaches within agile delivery teams.
• Hands-on data testing experience with SQL and Python, including the ability to review test designs, queries, and coverage.
• Experience defining quality metrics and service level objectives for senior stakeholders and operating QA in a managed or shared service model.
• Strong people leadership, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Databricks experience with PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or Databricks Workflows and Jobs.
• Experience with data quality frameworks and CI/CD quality gates for data pipelines.
• ISTQB Advanced or Expert certification, banking or financial services experience, and familiarity with Azure DevOps or equivalent tooling.
