Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing) Degree Apprenticeship (Aerospace)

Location: Filton, Bristol, United Kingdom; full-time, four-year-and-three-month apprenticeship starting in September 2027. Candidates must have legal authorisation to work in the UK for the full duration of the programme.

Salary: £23,245 per year.

What you will do

• Study towards a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing through Weston College and the University of the West of England.
• Complete vocational training and work on commercial aircraft programmes at the Filton site.
• Support landing gear design, integration, testing, fleet safety, and next-generation aircraft development.
• Rotate through engineering areas including architecture and integration, design, simulation, stress and fatigue, certification, research and technology, and ground and flight test.
• Gain exposure to digital engineering activities such as coding, AI, machine learning, and data analytics.
• Develop project management, business, financial, and leadership skills through cross-functional placements.

Requirements

• Minimum 112 UCAS points, normally 3 A Levels at BBC or above including Maths at grade B or above and Physics or Chemistry at grade C or above, or an eligible BTEC Extended Diploma or T Level qualification.
• GCSE Maths and English Language and Literature at minimum grade 5/B.
• Submit a CV showing grades and whether they are predicted or achieved, plus a cover letter explaining motivation and suitability.
• Demonstrate curiosity, problem-solving ability, effective communication, and enthusiasm for aerospace and sustainable civil aircraft.
• Current legal authorisation to work in the United Kingdom for the full programme is required.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this apprenticeship. BPSS screening and potentially UK SC security clearance or export-control approval may be required.
