Senior Associate Engineer (Mechanical Engineering)

Location: Peterborough, United Kingdom; onsite five days a week

Salary: £41,593+ per annum, depending on experience

What you will do

• Design and package engine components including castings, geartrain, valvetrain, drivetrain, and in-cylinder components.
• Develop engineering solutions for new product introduction, new technology projects, and updates to existing engine platforms.
• Work with global engineering, manufacturing, supplier, and customer teams to meet durability, functional, and customer requirements.
• Diagnose technical issues to root cause and implement containment and permanent corrective actions.
• Conduct FMEA, design reviews, and validation planning for components and systems.
• Work with suppliers using APQP and communicate progress, decisions, and risks to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience designing mechanical components and systems using CAD, preferably CREO.
• HNC or a technical degree in mechanical or automotive engineering, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
• Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes, including design for manufacturability.
• Ability to manage and deliver engineering tasks against established commitments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of IC engines and the ability to lead, plan, and execute engineering tasks and projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial engines using diesel or alternative fuels.
• Knowledge of rotating systems, valvetrain, castings, lubrication, breather and cooling systems, bolted joints, or sealing.
• Experience with 8D problem solving, DVP&R, FMEA, component validation, and engine verification.
• Knowledge of Teamcenter or similar data management software and Microsoft 365, including Teams.
• Experience in the off-highway diesel or machinery sector.
