Technical Analyst (APIs)

Location: Vienna, VA, United States (hybrid); must be local for an onsite interview

Salary: $50.00–$70.00 per hour; pay rate negotiable. Long-term contract position.

What you will do

• Translate business needs into technical system requirements and identify gaps with product ownership.
• Analyze enterprise and vendor APIs, map data between interfacing systems, and assess available data for new capabilities.
• Create system requirement documentation and interface specifications for applications and services.
• Validate applications and services, investigate production issues, and determine root causes using logs, databases, documentation, and scenario testing.
• Support feature prioritization, sprint and release planning, backlog refinement, demos, retrospectives, and other Scrum activities.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, developers, testers, QA, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of relevant information technology experience.
• Experience capturing technical requirements for information systems and applications.
• Experience working with APIs and familiarity with multi-tier applications.
• Ability to write SQL queries and conduct complex technical analysis across multiple products.
• Working knowledge of service-oriented architecture, microservices, API integration, configurable variables, error handling, XML, and JSON.
• Experience working in Agile methodologies with strong written, verbal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience using Postman or SoapUI to exercise APIs.
• Experience writing requirements for front-end mobile or web applications.
• Experience writing back-end service requirements.
• Experience working on requirements for native mobile applications.
