Structured Cabling Technician (Fiber/Network Infrastructure)

Location: Melbourne, Florida, United States; onsite work required. Work may involve travel to project sites, ladders, lifts, ceilings, and other elevated areas.

Salary: $22–$30 per hour; 40 hours per week. Contract-to-hire position.

What you will do

• Install horizontal structured cabling in commercial and construction environments, including Cat6, fiber, coax, and related systems.
• Install backbone and OSP cabling, then pull, route, dress, and secure cables according to project specifications.
• Terminate copper and fiber cabling using patch panels, jacks, connectors, and other network infrastructure components.
• Test, certify, and troubleshoot cabling systems, connectivity issues, cable faults, and installation deficiencies.
• Read blueprints, floor plans, cable schedules, and installation drawings while maintaining safe and organized work areas.
• Coordinate installations with project managers, general contractors, electricians, and other trades.

Requirements

• Previous structured cabling experience in commercial, industrial, or construction environments is preferred.
• Experience with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber-optic, coaxial, copper, backbone, and OSP cabling.
• Experience with cable termination, fiber testing, certification, splicing, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read blueprints and follow installation plans.
• Ability to work independently and with a team, including in construction environments and elevated areas.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Nice to have

• Fiber termination and splicing experience.
• AV installation experience.
• Experience using Fluke testing equipment.
