Backend Engineer, Card Issuing (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead technical design for high-availability money-moving systems, including RFCs and decisions on scalability, consistency, and failure handling.
• Own a core domain such as authorization or settlement, balancing product delivery, technical debt, and platform reliability.
• Build and scale RESTful microservices with strict idempotency, reconciliation correctness, and PCI DSS security.
• Drive integrations with card networks, payment processors, and third-party providers.
• Partner with Product, QA, and Operations to turn ambiguous problems into deliverable work and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Use AI tools and agents to automate engineering and operational workflows safely in a regulated payments environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including designing, launching, and operating high-scale or financial production systems.
• Expert-level Golang and strong experience building microservices on modern cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Advanced SQL skills with MariaDB or MySQL, including query optimization, transactions, locking, and live schema migrations.
• Excellent debugging, technical judgment, and technical writing skills.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or Cursor without compromising code quality.

Nice to have

• Experience with payments, card issuing, settlement systems, Visa or Mastercard integrations, ISO 8583, or PCI DSS compliance.
