Lead Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia; at least 3 days per week in the local office. Candidates must be based in or able to work from the advertised location.

What you will do

• Lead the technical design and execution of major products, features, and engineering initiatives.
• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
• Stay hands-on through coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and production problem-solving.
• Make architecture decisions and technical trade-offs covering speed, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers, review technical designs and code, and strengthen engineering practices across teams.
• Monitor production systems, investigate incidents, resolve root causes, and improve reliability and development velocity.

Requirements

• Significant experience building and shipping production software systems.
• Deep technical expertise in at least one area such as backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design, architecture, coding, debugging, and production engineering skills.
• Proven experience leading major engineering projects or providing technical leadership to other engineers.
• Strong product sense, judgment, ownership, and ability to work effectively with ambiguity.
• Strong English communication is required as English is the main working language across global teams.
