TL;DR
Backend Engineer (Fintech): Building reliable APIs, workflows, and financial infrastructure for an AI Finance Agent across insurance, payments, banking, and other regulated products with an accent on scalability, security, data quality, and partner integrations. Focus on designing auditable transaction systems, integrating banks and payment providers, and solving production reliability, observability, and operational risk challenges.
Location: Malaysia, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the Malaysia office.

What you will do
- Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the AI Finance Agent and AI Neobank app.
- Support products across insurance, payments, wallets, savings, investing, travel, and other financial services.
- Design systems for accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications, and operations.
- Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers, and other external partners.
- Work with product and mobile teams to deliver customer-facing journeys.
- Improve reliability, observability, security, performance, and operational readiness for regulated products.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design, and production debugging.
- Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems.
- Understanding of security, reliability, data quality, and operational edge cases.
- Ability to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality, and risk.
- Strong English communication is required; English is the main working language.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking, or other regulated products.
- Experience taking ownership of production issues and long-term system reliability.
