Propulsion Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship (Level 2) (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Study toward the Level 2 Engineering Operative qualification across mechanical and electrical pathways during the first year.
• Assemble satellite propulsion systems using adhesives, bonding methods, measuring tools, components, brackets, heater mats, thermocouples, and thermostats.
• Follow technical drawings, processes, and tolerances using 3DX.
• Operate orbital welding equipment and bend, shape, and cut titanium and stainless-steel pipework.
• Develop electrical techniques including crimping, splicing, soldering, harness forming, wiring, and routing.
• Fine-tune practical manufacturing skills against the business skills matrix during the third year.

Requirements

• Applicants must be aged 16–21 and must not hold a Level 2 or higher qualification in engineering, aerospace, or a related technical field.
• A Grade 3 or equivalent in GCSE Maths and English is desirable; there are no strict formal entry requirements.
• Strong communication, reliability, work ethic, a can-do attitude, and the ability to follow technical instructions are required.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• No prior experience is required; full on-the-job training is provided.
• Current legal authorisation to work in the United Kingdom is required. The role does not meet UK immigration requirements for migrant-worker visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience from DIY, building or repair projects, model-making, cooking, beauty work, or technology projects.
• A practical project that can be shown through photographs, documents, or a short video.
