Structures Manufacturing Technician Craft Apprenticeship (Level 2)

What you will do

• Study toward a Level 2 Engineering Operative qualification on the electrical pathway during Year 1.
• Work in the Structures Production area to learn how satellites are manufactured using approved processes and advanced production techniques.
• Carry out mechanical assembly, including bonding, adhesive application, measuring, riveting, drilling, reaming, torque loading, and wire thread insert installation.
• Follow technical drawings, processes, and tolerances using 3DX.
• Develop electrical skills including crimping, splicing, routing, harness installation, testing, and fault finding.
• Refine practical hand skills against the business skills matrix during the fully on-site third year.

Requirements

• Applicants must be aged 16–21 and must not hold a Level 2 or higher qualification in engineering, aerospace, or a related technical field.
• There are no strict formal entry requirements; GCSE Maths and English at Grade 3 or equivalent are desirable.
• Strong communication, reliability, a good work ethic, a can-do attitude, and the ability to follow technical instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• No prior experience is required; full on-the-job training is provided.
• Current legal authorisation to work in the United Kingdom is required. The role does not meet UK Visas and Immigration requirements for migrant-worker sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Practical experience from DIY, building or repairing items, model making, technology projects, cooking, baking, beauty work, or similar hands-on activities.
• Photos, documents, or a short video showing a completed hands-on project.
