Support Specialist (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Onsite in Austin, Texas; available to local candidates only. Remote work and relocation are not available. The role requires working around vehicles for extended periods, moving vehicles in a garage, and occasional on-road driving if needed. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 AM–12:00 PM.

What you will do

• Act as the first point of contact for technical issues reported by safety drivers and operators during active shifts.
• Process, triage, document, investigate, and escalate vehicle and system issues to engineering teams.
• Use Unix command-line tools for log review, troubleshooting, and operational support.
• Support vehicle dispatch, return, startup, shutdown, charging, and log-upload procedures.
• Perform readiness checks, reconnect cables, inspect onboard device indicators, and move vehicles around the garage.
• Document workflow, procedure, and support-practice updates for knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in technical support, operations support, or a similar role.
• Daily experience working in a Unix environment and strong knowledge of commands such as cd, ls, rm, cp, scp, cat, vim, uptime, and journalctl.
• Hands-on experience with Slack and ticket-tracking systems such as Jira or YouTrack.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers, safety drivers, and operators while managing multiple requests.
• Valid driver’s license held for at least three years, ability to move vehicles around a garage, and readiness to drive on-road if required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work onsite around vehicles for extended periods.

Nice to have

• Experience with fleet operations, incident handling, or remote technical support.
• Knowledge of vehicle technical systems or autonomous vehicles.
• Experience with onboard hardware checks, connectors, or light vehicle-support tasks.
