Controller (Advanced Manufacturing)

Location: Meriden, Connecticut, United States; onsite

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience

Advanced-technology manufacturing company producing high-performance optical components and systems for space, aerospace, optical communications, high-energy laser, fusion-energy, and scientific markets.

What you will do

• Advise the CEO and executive team on revenue, profitability, investments, growth, and financial risk.
• Lead budgeting, cash-flow planning, rolling forecasts, scenario modeling, and financial reporting.
• Oversee accounting operations, month-end and year-end close, U.S. GAAP compliance, internal controls, audits, and tax coordination.
• Lead cost accounting, inventory valuation, manufacturing analysis, margin analysis, variance analysis, and operational finance.
• Partner with project and program leaders on budgets, forecasts, cost-to-complete, earned value, margins, customer reporting, and contract compliance.
• Manage treasury, liquidity, banking relationships, working capital, billing, collections, payables, capital spending, and financing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and at least 8 years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience leading disciplined month-end and year-end close processes.
• Substantial cost-accounting experience in manufacturing, engineering, project-based, or similarly complex operating environments.
• Experience with budgets, cash forecasts, rolling forecasts, scenario models, executive analysis, and project-level financial management.
• Experience supervising accounting staff, coordinating with external audit and tax professionals, and maintaining audit-ready records.
• Advanced spreadsheet modeling and effective use of accounting, ERP/MRP, project-accounting, and reporting systems.

Nice to have

• CPA, CMA, MBA, or a master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
• Prior Controller or senior finance leadership experience.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, space systems, precision optics, advanced manufacturing, or government contracting.
• Experience with earned-value management, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, finance-system scaling, banking relationships, capital planning, insurance, and contractual financial risk.
