Location: Sunnyvale, California; hybrid work with reporting to a specified location at least three times per week. Candidates within a 50-mile radius of Austin, Detroit, Seattle, Warren, Milford, or Sunnyvale are expected to report to that location three times per week. Travel is less than 25%.
Salary: $189,300–$290,700 per year, plus potential incentive pay.

What you will do
- Set the technical direction for sensing-system evaluation frameworks measuring performance, robustness, scalability, and readiness.
- Integrate camera, LiDAR, RADAR, and sensor models into simulation and evaluation environments.
- Develop statistical, empirical, and physics-based methods for experiment design, failure analysis, and performance characterization.
- Generate and manage synthetic and recorded datasets for model training, evaluation, regression testing, and failure analysis.
- Build developer tools, APIs, command-line tools, notebooks, automated workflows, dashboards, metrics, and reporting for sensing experiments.
- Lead technical reviews, architecture initiatives, hiring, coaching, and development of a small engineering team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, robotics, mathematics, or a related technical field.
- 10 or more years of progressive experience in software engineering, systems engineering, machine learning, perception, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience leading a small engineering team and demonstrated experience coaching or managing engineers.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, including production-quality software, testing, debugging, interfaces, and automation.
- Experience with machine learning workflows and at least one modern framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with sensing systems, simulation, validation, data processing, statistics, structured experimentation, and cross-disciplinary technical leadership.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, robotics, mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with autonomous-vehicle perception, synthetic data, scenario-based testing, sensor simulation, or large-scale regression evaluation.
- Experience with sensor calibration, geometric computer vision, multimodal fusion, signal quality, timing synchronization, or sensor health monitoring.
- Experience with functional safety, SOTIF, requirements traceability, ROS, Linux, containers, continuous integration, distributed computing, or cloud data platforms.
- Experience building metrics, dashboards, experiment-management tools, or scalable data pipelines for sensor and vehicle datasets.
