Software Engineer (Application Engineer or Cloud Engineer)

Location: United Kingdom, hybrid — Winchester or London office attendance 1–2 times a week

Salary: Up to £60,000 base salary per year

What you will do

• Translate stakeholder requirements into technical solutions, acceptance criteria, and well-designed software.
• Design, develop, test, and operate secure and reliable software features, services, integrations, and defect fixes.
• Use AI coding assistants and agentic development tools responsibly while reviewing generated and human-written outputs for quality, security, and maintainability.
• Build automated tests and validate functional and non-functional requirements through manual and automated testing.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, technical problem-solving, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
• Create technical documentation and operational guidance for software solutions.

Requirements

• Professional experience across the software development lifecycle and a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• For backend and full-stack work: proficiency in Python and experience building APIs, services, and integrations.
• For frontend and full-stack work: proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and experience with React, Next.js, or similar frameworks.
• For DevOps and cloud work: knowledge of AWS, Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform, cloud-native platforms, and Kubernetes deployments.
• Experience with AI-assisted development, automated and manual testing, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and Agile delivery.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, debugging, solution design, security, observability, communication, and collaboration skills.
