Senior DevOps/Systems Developer (AWS)

Location: Fully remote within the United Kingdom; applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. The company has an office in Scotland.

Salary: £60,000–£70,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

What you will do

• Manage and develop AWS infrastructure, including EC2, VPC architecture, load balancers, and networking components.
• Operate and improve Linux production systems with a focus on reliability, availability, and performance.
• Support web, application, caching, and database platforms including nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Ansible, plus automation scripts in Python and Bash.
• Improve CI/CD, monitoring, observability, CDN, and web security capabilities using tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines, CloudWatch, Zabbix, New Relic, Akamai, and Cloudflare.
• Lead investigations into major incidents, identify root causes, plan infrastructure improvements, and participate in a shared 24/7 on-call rota.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of commercial experience in DevOps, systems engineering, infrastructure, cloud engineering, or a related senior technical role.
• Strong experience administering Linux production environments and AWS services including EC2, VPCs, networking, and load balancing.
• Hands-on Terraform experience and practical knowledge of Ansible or automated infrastructure provisioning.
• Experience creating operational tooling with Python and Bash and working with CI/CD platforms such as Bitbucket Pipelines.
• Experience managing production incidents, performing root-cause analysis, and solving complex infrastructure problems.
• Legal right to work in the UK and willingness to participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call arrangement.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Akamai and experience with CDN and WAF technologies.
