Senior Engineering Manager (API Platform)

Location: Remote throughout the US, or from the office in Manhattan, NY. Hiring is unavailable in AK, DE, HI, IA, LA, MS, MT, OK, and SC.

Salary: $210,000–$230,000 annually, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing engineering squad.
• Define multi-quarter product and engineering strategy, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes with Product, Design, Business Development, and engineering leaders.
• Translate partner, customer, and business needs into priorities while balancing rapid delivery with long-term platform scalability.
• Coordinate work across platform, data, client, and engineering teams, aligning ownership and sequencing across systems.
• Guide development of a secure, reliable, scalable API product, including authentication, authorization, versioning, documentation, observability, operational readiness, and support.
• Coach engineers and technical leaders, hire and onboard engineers, and improve cross-team delivery and engineering practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading engineering teams and developing engineers at multiple levels.
• Experience leading teams that delivered reliable, customer-facing products across multiple teams, systems, and stakeholder groups.
• Experience shaping multi-quarter strategy and converting ambiguous business goals into clear outcomes.
• Experience with external customer- or partner-facing APIs, developer platforms, integrations, or distributed backend systems.
• Strong backend or API design expertise, including authentication, authorization, backwards compatibility, versioning, documentation, developer experience, observability, reliability, and support.
• Must be able to work remotely from the US; hiring is unavailable in AK, DE, HI, IA, LA, MS, MT, OK, and SC.

Nice to have

• Experience working with third-party developers, strategic partners, or platform ecosystems.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, Redis, or PostgreSQL.
