Staff Software Engineer (AI/Cloud Infrastructure)

Location: Hybrid role based in San Carlos, California, with at least 3 days per week onsite and remote work on the remaining days. All work must be performed in the United States.

Salary: $224,000–$260,000 annual base salary at L6, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, provision, and operate secure AWS infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS CDK and Terraform.
• Build CI/CD, testing, data ingestion, and ML pipelines for applications, infrastructure, and model services.
• Build and operate LLM platforms with Bedrock, SageMaker, ECS/EKS, Lambda, and Batch, including streaming, batching, and resilient API services.
• Design RAG pipelines, vector search, knowledge bases, embeddings, and data synchronization across S3, Aurora, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, pgvector, and Pinecone.
• Create evaluation, observability, cost governance, safety, privacy, and compliance systems for production AI services.
• Manage IoT edge infrastructure, troubleshoot cloud and ML services, and partner with product and application engineering teams on user-facing features.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status is required, and candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.
• Onsite presence in San Carlos is required at least 3 days per week.
• 9+ years of experience working with serverless or container platforms on AWS.
• Production experience with LLM-powered applications, RAG design, prompt versioning, and LangChain or similar orchestration frameworks.
• Strong AWS experience across VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, S3, ECS/EKS, Lambda, Step Functions, Bedrock, and SageMaker, plus Python data engineering skills.
• Experience with vector databases, OpenSearch or pgvector at scale, security controls, quantitative evaluations, A/B testing, and production metrics.

Nice to have

• Experience with IoT AWS services, edge deployments, secure messaging, device identity, and over-the-air updates.
• Familiarity with GPU workloads, Triton Inference Server, TensorRT-LLM, and large-scale data processing tools.
• Experience with Bedrock Guardrails, Knowledge Bases, custom policy engines, or safety-critical aviation data.
• DevOps or DevSecOps experience automating CI/CD for ML and application services.
