Location: Full-time, on-site in San Jose, California

Pay range: $40/hour for Bachelor's students, $45/hour for Master's students, and $50/hour for PhD students.

What you will do

  • Support planning, preparation, setup, execution, and analysis of spacecraft and subsystem environmental tests.
  • Assist with thermal vacuum, vibration, acoustic, qualification, and acceptance testing.
  • Prepare spacecraft hardware, fixtures, ground support equipment, instrumentation, and test configurations.
  • Execute functional checkouts and test procedures under engineering supervision while monitoring hardware performance.
  • Collect and analyze test data, identify anomalies, and support troubleshooting and root-cause investigations.
  • Improve test procedures, laboratory workflows, automation, data acquisition, documentation, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in mechanics, thermal systems, dynamics, instrumentation, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Julia, C++, or another programming or scripting language for data analysis or test automation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on with engineering hardware and test equipment.
  • Must work full-time on-site in San Jose, California. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required export authorization.

Nice to have

  • Previous internship, co-op, research, or laboratory experience involving hardware testing.
  • Experience with thermal vacuum, vibration, acoustic, shock, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, sensors, or test equipment.
  • Experience developing test procedures, plans, reports, or automation using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
  • Experience with spacecraft systems, CubeSats, rocketry, Formula SAE, Solar Car, hardware integration, troubleshooting, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
