TL;DR
Media Firmware Development Engineer (SSD): Developing and validating low-level firmware for Solidigm solid-state drives with an accent on embedded architecture, C/C++ source code, storage interfaces, and product constraints. Focus on designing media-management and device architectures, debugging system-level issues, and optimizing SSD performance, endurance, reliability, and quality of service.

Location: Rancho Cordova, California, United States. Fully onsite with office attendance five days per week.

Salary: USD 102,720–151,600 per year

What you will do

  • Develop, review, document, and maintain product source code in C/C++.
  • Analyze and develop firmware against internal and customer specifications.
  • Perform unit and system-level testing, failure analysis, debugging, and product validation.
  • Develop low-level firmware, operating system, device, and system architectures with hardware and ASIC design teams.
  • Translate product requirements into development and validation plans and coordinate priorities with engineering stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Agile/Kanban development, product quality, team accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with embedded software or firmware development, C/C++ programming, debugging, and hardware-near development.
  • Experience with Git, Python, and C/C++ debugging tools.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems, interpret test and debug data, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong written, presentation, collaboration, multitasking, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Rancho Cordova, California, five days per week.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of SSD media-management concepts, including flash translation layers, wear leveling, garbage collection, bad-block management, error correction, and data integrity.
  • Exposure to NAND flash memory concepts such as SLC, TLC, and QLC and their performance, endurance, retention, and reliability tradeoffs.
  • Experience with NVMe, PCIe, SATA, ONFI, or other high-speed storage interfaces.
  • Interest in data-driven media-management algorithms for SSD performance, endurance, reliability, and quality of service.
