TL;DR
Embedded Software Engineer II (C/C++ medical devices): Developing embedded software for airway-management medical devices with an accent on software architecture, hardware integration, testing, and regulatory documentation. Focus on designing reusable platform components, debugging hardware-software interfaces, and supporting software verification, validation, and risk management.

Location: Onsite in Lafayette, Colorado, United States. Limited travel may be required for collaboration, testing, and business needs. Candidates must have unrestricted U.S. work authorization; sponsorship is available only for Principal-level roles and above.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 USD annually, plus eligible short-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

  • Develop embedded software applications and features in C and C++ for airway-management medical devices.
  • Design software architectures, frameworks, and reusable platform components across product lines.
  • Integrate software with hardware platforms and troubleshoot hardware-software interface issues.
  • Create unit tests, integration tests, automated test scripts, and code reviews.
  • Produce software development documentation and support verification, validation, risk management, configuration management, and Agile practices.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, mechanical, clinical, and quality functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 2+ years of embedded software experience, or a relevant master’s degree.
  • Professional experience developing embedded software with C and C++.
  • Experience with Linux-based embedded systems and driver development or maintenance.
  • Experience with version control and configuration management tools.
  • Experience debugging hardware-software integration issues and interpreting schematics and technical documentation.
  • Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at hire and throughout employment.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing real-time software for microprocessor-based systems.
  • Experience with Qt, LVGL, or other embedded graphics and user interface frameworks.
  • Experience with Python, shell scripting, or test automation tools.
  • Experience with USB, UART, I2C, and SPI communication protocols.
  • Experience in regulated product development and knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and ISO 13485.
