Firmware Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Boise, Idaho, United States

Salary: $97,700–$144,400 per year for the Software Engineer level; additional ranges are listed for Associate Software Engineer and Lead Software Engineer levels.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and test software systems for critical electric power applications.
• Analyze interactions between software, external hardware, and other software assets.
• Collaborate with engineers, subject-matter experts, and stakeholders to develop solutions.
• Create and maintain specification, design, and testing documentation.
• Participate in code reviews and automate and test engineering processes.
• Mentor and train interns and Associate Engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience with several relevant technologies, including C++, C, Python, C#, React, relational databases, Git-based source control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Ethernet communication, networking, containerization, secure software development, debugging, and Behavior-Driven Development.
• Strong writing, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to work in Boise, Idaho.

Nice to have

• Basic knowledge of power systems.
• Experience with industrial controls, process automation, or application engineering.
• Knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
