Senior Software Engineer (Computer Vision)

Location: Centreville, Virginia, United States; ability to work in an office environment required. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role involves work on government contracts, ITAR/EAR-controlled information, and eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Salary: $105,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Implement and optimize computer vision and perception algorithms in C++ for low-SWaP embedded processors such as Nvidia Xavier and Orin.
• Develop video processing and perception pipelines for unmanned surface vessels and other unmanned systems.
• Integrate, test, and demonstrate software components and complete systems through benchtop testing and field experimentation.
• Write software design documentation, technical reports, unit tests, and customer-facing presentation inputs.
• Collaborate with software developers, external developers, customers, and senior engineers to design reusable software and derive algorithms from requirements.
• Provide guidance to less experienced engineers and contribute to Scrum and process improvement activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or equivalent education and experience.
• 5–8 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong C/C++ skills, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and development workflows.
• Experience with CMake, modern C++ build systems, Python, Ubuntu or CentOS Linux, Git, IDEs, debuggers, unit testing, and code debugging.
• Familiarity with machine learning and computer vision concepts, mathematical and analytical problem-solving, and system design.
• U.S. citizenship required; must be willing to work on government contracts and obtain a DoD security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with DDS, gRPC, or Rust.
• Active security clearance.
