Engineering Manager (Embedded Systems)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid role with in-person collaboration in offices and workshops

Base salary: $276,100–$300,400 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead and develop a high-performing OS engineering team through coaching, feedback, performance management, hiring, and onboarding.
• Own team planning, resourcing, roadmap execution, delivery quality, and operational reliability.
• Set technical direction across operating-system architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Guide support for new compute platforms, board bring-up, peripheral drivers, and heterogeneous hardware environments.
• Strengthen continuous integration, software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing, quality metrics, and automated release gates.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Software, model development, hardware, OEM programme teams, and external partners to resolve dependencies and scale deployments.

Requirements

• Strong experience leading, growing, engaging, and retaining a high-performing software or systems team.
• Experience with hiring, coaching, performance management, career development, roadmap ownership, prioritisation, and delivery through others.
• Hands-on experience architecting and delivering embedded software shipped in physical products.
• Knowledge of high-performance, low-latency embedded software, preferably in C or C++, plus Linux kernel fundamentals, device trees, board support packages, build systems, software updates, and over-the-air deployment.
• Understanding of QNX, security, reliable software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and high- and low-speed peripheral drivers including PCIe.
• Ability to set direction through influence across stakeholder teams and manage reports across different time zones and external partners.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-reliability fault-tolerant software and hardware architectures.
• Experience with NVIDIA DriveOS, NVIDIA Jetson or Drive platforms, QNX or other microkernel and real-time operating systems, and Qualcomm, AMD, or Renesas platforms.
