Configuration Manager (Automotive)

Location: Leonberg, Germany; hybrid working model with in-person collaboration in the office and remote work.

What you will do

• Own configuration and change management across the full V-model development lifecycle.
• Build and maintain configuration item lists covering requirements, architecture, software, verification evidence, and releases.
• Run change management in Jira, coordinating reviews, checklists, state transitions, and approvals.
• Establish consistent baselines across Jira, GitHub, Jama Connect, Enterprise Architect, Google Drive, and Notion.
• Define and improve Automotive SPICE SUP.8 Configuration Management and SUP.10 Change Request Management processes.
• Conduct configuration audits, maintain status records, and prepare evidence for internal, customer, and external assessments.

Requirements

• Automotive experience establishing or supporting a full end-to-end development lifecycle across software, systems engineering, and requirements management.
• Proven experience with configuration items, baselines, change control, status accounting, configuration audits, naming conventions, and templates.
• Ability to drive implementation independently, communicate clearly with engineering teams, and maintain process discipline with senior stakeholders.
• Familiarity with modern engineering toolchains such as Git, GitHub, Jira, Jama Connect, or equivalent tools.
• Working knowledge of Automotive SPICE, particularly SUP.8, SUP.9, SUP.10, and requirements engineering processes.
• Experience managing requirements and traceability or improving and automating engineering lifecycle, configuration, or compliance workflows.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, or other automotive engineering standards.
• intacs Automotive SPICE Process Expert or Assessor qualification.

Hiring process

• Initial recruiter call: 30 minutes.
• Competency interview with the hiring manager: 1 hour.
• Technical deep dive with a presentation: 75 minutes, followed by a final mission and values interview of 45 minutes.
