Cloud Platform Automation Engineer (AWS)

Location: Bochum, Germany or Geneva, Switzerland; on-site with three anchor days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Candidates must be based in the posted location or be willing to relocate.

What you will do

• Design and evolve secure AWS foundations using reusable infrastructure-as-code, automated deployment pipelines, and tested change controls.
• Build automation, integrations, and self-service tooling for Systems Engineering, including AI-enabled infrastructure delivery and operational support.
• Develop observability practices covering metrics, logs, traces, alerting, dashboards, runbooks, SLIs/SLOs, and capacity planning.
• Implement cloud security controls for access management, policy-as-code, secrets, auditability, configuration baselines, and automated evidence collection.
• Participate in on-call and incident response, lead root-cause analysis, and improve resilience through FMEAs and recovery exercises.
• Establish platform standards, review complex changes, mentor peers, and collaborate with engineering, security, IT operations, and external providers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in cloud, platform, site reliability, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering in a SaaS, cloud-native, or complex enterprise environment.
• Strong AWS experience across networking, IAM, DNS, logging and monitoring, compute, storage, security controls, and multi-account or multi-environment design.
• Deep infrastructure-as-code experience with AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent, including reusable modules, automated testing, code review, and CI/CD delivery.
• Strong software engineering and automation skills in Python, TypeScript, Go, Bash, or a comparable language, with a heavy emphasis on AI skillsets.
• Experience with production observability, incident response, post-incident engineering, root-cause analysis, and measurable reliability improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication is required.
