Forensics Engineer (AI)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid working with in-person collaboration in the office, vehicle workshops, and labs.

What you will do

• Lead investigations from triage escalations, model alerts, on-road incidents, and ad-hoc requests through root-cause identification.
• Analyse on-road data, logs, and offline simulations to reproduce issues, test hypotheses, and identify fleet-wide patterns.
• Build queries, plots, dashboards, and automated workflows for investigations and known-issue monitoring.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, robotics, model, platform, operations, and safety teams to validate fixes and drive resolution.
• Communicate findings through reports, visualisations, and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support release testing, new vehicle platform bring-up, and the development of investigation processes, playbooks, training, and automation.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience working with complex systems in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or a comparable engineering environment.
• Experience investigating across hardware, software, data, and AI models and designing real-world experiments to test hypotheses.
• Strong Python skills for data analysis and analytical scripting.
• Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly and influence technical decisions across teams.
• Safety-conscious approach and comfort investigating issues with potential safety implications.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model from Sunnyvale, California, USA, including hands-on work in vehicle workshops and labs.

Nice to have

• Experience with machine-learning models, safety-critical systems, autonomous vehicles, robotics, automotive engineering, or fast-moving technology companies.

Hiring process

• 30-minute recruiter screen and 30-minute competency interview with the hiring manager.
