Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Salary: $165K–$330K plus equity

Baseten provides inference infrastructure, applied AI research, and developer tooling for companies deploying AI models into production.

What you will do

• Architect, build, and deploy high-scale production AI applications on Baseten’s platform.
• Partner with customer engineering teams across sales, implementation, and expansion.
• Translate ambiguous business objectives into specifications, proof-of-concepts, tested services, and measurable production outcomes.
• Develop and maintain production software and product features, with a preference for Python.
• Evaluate, monitor, optimize, and enhance AI/ML projects and their technical stack.
• Own customer projects end-to-end while contributing as an engineer, project manager, and product manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Production-level experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages, especially Python.
• Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines and the machine learning model development and deployment lifecycle.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical topics.
• Experience building or optimizing AI/ML projects.
