Developer Relations Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California; on-site

What you will do

• Write, test, and maintain agentic training recipes, code examples, and documentation for Inkling and Tinker.
• Work with open-source developers and researchers to debug issues, gather feedback, and improve fine-tuning and deployment experiences.
• Partner with research and infrastructure teams to turn community feedback into improvements to models, Tinker, and post-training recipes.
• Build demos, integrations, and developer tools for adopting Thinking Machines' models.
• Represent the products through blog posts, talks, tutorials, livestreams, conferences, and meetups.
• Help shape the developer experience roadmap as models and platform features evolve.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in developer relations, developer experience, or software engineering with significant open-source or community-facing work.
• Strong software engineering skills and production-quality Python experience.
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning, evaluating, or deploying large language models.
• Experience with supervised and reinforcement learning fine-tuning, post-training on new domains, and improving model capabilities.
• Experience contributing to, maintaining, or growing open-source software libraries.
• Experience creating technical tutorials or content and engaging publicly through talks, livestreams, conferences, or meetups.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with multimodal text, image, and audio models and the tradeoffs of training, fine-tuning, and inference.
