Delta Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC or San Francisco, United States

Base salary: $180,000–$280,000 annually, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

Windsurf builds Devin, an AI software engineer, and develops AI software for real-world tasks and federal enterprise engagements.

What you will do

• Provide technical depth across strategic federal customer accounts and complex deployments.
• Own the technical direction, architecture, and success of customer accounts.
• Build product extensions and integrations using APIs and platform primitives.
• Translate customer pain points into product requirements, define solutions, and drive implementation.
• Debug escalated technical issues requiring architectural judgment and connect federal go-to-market teams with product engineering.

Requirements

• Strong engineering foundation and experience scoping and shipping features with product and engineering teams.
• Experience working in government or at a government-focused company.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or a similar programming language, with the ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases.
• Cross-functional experience in startup or larger-company environments, including product or commercial thinking.
• Track record of pursuing excellence at a high level.

Nice to have

• Experience in forward-deployed engineering, solutions architecture, or similar technical roles.
• Experience with enterprise infrastructure, including cloud deployments, networking, and security.
• Experience building software at engineering-focused companies.
• Comfort working closely with customers and handling ambiguous, difficult technical problems.
