Principal Design Engineer (Aerospace): Supporting the design and modification of aircraft structures, systems, and installations, including metallic and non-metallic parts, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems, with an accent on complex technical solutions, design documentation, and Airbus engineering toolsets. Focus on leading advanced design projects, mentoring engineers, solving structural and integration problems, and guiding concepts into final products.
Location: On-site in Wichita, Kansas, United States. Travel required: 5% domestic and international.

What you will do
- Design and modify aircraft structures, systems, and installations, including metallic and non-metallic parts, electrical harnesses, fuel lines, and hydraulic systems.
- Create and update design datasets, product structures, and other technical documentation using applications and toolsets.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems in collaboration with static stress, fatigue, and other internal and external engineering teams.
- Lead advanced technical projects, establish objectives and timelines, and guide solutions through development into final products.
- Mentor less experienced designers and design engineers while providing technical leadership and supporting signatory development.
- Represent engineering in technical presentations and advise management and customers on advanced technical matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace, civil, or mechanical engineering, with emphasis on structural design, analysis, and mechanics of materials.
- At least 13 years of design experience with airframe structures and/or system installation projects.
- Current authorization to work in the United States is required.
- In-depth knowledge of design principles, theories, concepts, documentation, techniques, and procedures.
- Experience with CATIA V5 and/or 3DEXPERIENCE, including multiple CATIA workbenches.
- Effective written and verbal English communication is required.
Nice to have
- Software coding experience in C, C++, Python, or other programming languages.
- Working knowledge of Structures.
- Experience with metallic or composite airframe structures and electrical, fuel, or hydraulic system installations.
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- Conversational French and/or German.
