Location: Hybrid schedule based out of Mentor, Ohio, USA

Salary: $144,900–$216,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and execute global IP strategy for intelligent labels, digital identification, connected products, and apparel branding platforms.
• Manage global patent procurement, including drafting, PCT and foreign filings, prosecution, invention triage, competitive surveillance, and EPO oppositions.
• Conduct patentability, validity, and Freedom-to-Operate analyses to support product launches and reduce infringement risks.
• Support IP litigation, adversarial proceedings, dispute resolution, due diligence, and risk assessment for M&A, joint ventures, and venture investments.
• Draft, review, and negotiate Joint Development Agreements, licensing arrangements, strategic vendor contracts, and research collaborations.
• Partner with R&D, Commercial, Procurement, and Business Development teams on IP training, trade secret protection, budgeting, and legal spend.

Requirements

• Technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science or Engineering, or Materials Science & Engineering, together with a J.D.
• USPTO registration and admission in good standing to the Bar in at least one U.S. state.
• 8+ years of dedicated patent law experience, including patent drafting and prosecution, FTO opinions, business counseling, and transactional support.
• Technical familiarity with RFID inlays, NFC, antenna engineering, digital identification systems, connected product platforms, SaaS, cloud analytics, or related IP ecosystems.
• Strong business acumen, risk management, communication, and collaboration skills across global and cross-cultural teams.
