TL;DR
Principal Engineer, Rotordynamics (Aerospace/Additive Manufacturing): Leading rotordynamics design, analysis, testing, and development for novel jet engines and rigs with an accent on critical-speed analysis, forced response, stability, structural vibration, and additive design. Focus on coordinating rotor and structural designs, validating performance through instrumentation and testing, and scaling engineering capabilities in a growing defense manufacturing startup.

Location: Onsite at the Centennial, Colorado or Cincinnati, Ohio facility; the posting header also lists Loveland, Ohio.

Salary: $190,000–$230,000 base salary per year, with bonus eligibility and company equity.

What you will do

  • Lead rotordynamics analysis for new jet engines and rigs, including critical speeds, forced response, maneuvers, stability, and loads.
  • Partner with hardware owners to develop rotor and structural designs based on analysis results.
  • Plan and conduct operational testing, including instrumentation, data acquisition, signal processing, and technical recommendations.
  • Perform finite element, static, modal, and forced-response analysis using ANSYS Workbench and related tools.
  • Lead design reviews and coordinate with controls, additive manufacturing, bearings, materials, and systems analysis disciplines.
  • Research additive-design technologies, optimize product performance, document technical data, and help scale future design capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 12 years of experience in gas turbine rotordynamics.
  • Significant experience with rotordynamics software such as Dyrobes, XLRotor, XLTRC, or comparable OEM tools.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD, ANSYS, ANSYS Workbench, structural analysis, and vibration analysis.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, and program execution skills.
  • Ability to work as a self-starter in a fast-paced, cross-functional startup environment.
