Developer Operations (GitHub)

Location: Remote in Canada; this role is remote-first and not hybrid

Salary: CAD$128,000–CAD$200,000 annually; most new hires join at CAD$152,000. The role also includes equity through the hirify.global Stock Option Plan.

What you will do

• Own GitHub operations across multiple organizations, 900+ repositories, and 300+ developers.
• Define and implement operational and security baselines, including repository creation, branch protections, rulesets, required reviews, secret scanning, and least-privilege access.
• Automate configuration management, drift detection, compliance reporting, and guided enforcement through bots and dashboards.
• Partner with Platform Security, Delivery Engineering, Backend Foundations, and Developer Acceleration on access controls, secret management, and developer workflows.
• Lead phased adoption and migration support to achieve compliance across all repositories within twelve months.
• Extend the operating model to Jira, Datadog, JFrog, and other software delivery lifecycle tools.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience administering developer tooling at organizational scale, with a systems administration profile and DevOps or developer experience focus.
• Practical GitHub administration experience with organization and enterprise settings, rulesets, branch protections, GitHub Apps, integrations, Actions, SSO/SCIM, access management, secret scanning, code security, and audit logs.
• Experience with Terraform, the GitHub API, and scripting in Bash, Python, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Experience running tools in AWS, ideally including EKS.
• Security-first approach focused on least privilege, sound secret management, and close partnership with security teams.
• Ability to work independently, define standards, influence developers without formal authority, and use AI coding tools such as Claude and Cursor responsibly.
