Data Engineer (EDI)

Location: Remote within the United States or onsite in Tempe, Arizona

Salary: $60,000–$70,000 per year, depending on location, skills, and experience. Benefits begin on day one.

What you will do

• Test and troubleshoot HIPAA X12 transactions, including 837, 835, 834, 270/271, and 276/277.
• Diagnose transaction-level errors across loops, segments, elements, and qualifiers, and coordinate mapping or programming fixes.
• Investigate production issues involving trading partners, payers, vendors, claims, eligibility, and remittance data.
• Create test plans, test cases, mock claim data, and Companion Guide documentation.
• Lead UAT, SIT, and end-to-end testing for vendor onboarding, system enhancements, and HIPAA 4010/5010 upgrades.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners while tracking incidents and enhancements in JIRA and maintaining documentation in Confluence.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with healthcare EDI transactions and HIPAA 4010/5010 standards.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Life Sciences, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting X12 transaction sets and working with EDI trading partners, payers, or vendors.
• Experience writing test plans, test cases, and technical or Companion Guide documentation.
• Working knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle, plus familiarity with EDI testing or translation tools.
• Understanding of claims, eligibility, enrollment, remittance, medical coding, Agile/Scrum, JIRA, and Confluence.
