AI Engineer (Azure OpenAI)

Location: Hybrid remote/on-site in Washington, DC, United States. An active Secret security clearance is required.

Salary: $60,000–$180,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Design and develop AI-enabled applications for FISMA audit readiness, audit response, findings management, control testing, and compliance reporting.
• Build custom GPT, RAG, semantic search, vector database, and secure AI copilot solutions using organizational policies, standards, procedures, and audit documentation.
• Develop automated compliance mapping and analysis for NIST CSF, FISMA, OMB, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
• Build data pipelines and dashboards integrating audit data, findings repositories, POA&M systems, and compliance datasets.
• Implement predictive analytics, model evaluation, prompt security controls, audit logging, explainability, and AI governance mechanisms.
• Translate complex cybersecurity requirements into technical solutions while engaging directly with senior government stakeholders.

Requirements

• Active Secret security clearance.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years developing AI/ML-enabled applications.
• Experience with Python, FastAPI or Flask, React or modern frontend frameworks, Azure OpenAI, REST APIs, SQL and NoSQL databases, and Git-based DevSecOps pipelines.
• Experience with RAG architectures, agentic workflows, vector databases, prompt engineering frameworks, and document intelligence solutions.
• Understanding of FISMA, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-53, continuous monitoring, POA&M processes, cyber audit lifecycles, risk assessments, and GRC.
• Ability to work with unstructured compliance content and communicate technical solutions to senior government stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting federal civilian agencies and cybersecurity environments.
• Knowledge of audit finding management, NFRs, corrective action plans, and audit evidence analysis.
• Experience building AI solutions for compliance, governance, or risk management.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, Fabric, Purview, Copilot Studio, and Azure AI services.
