Software Development Engineer - AI and Automation (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States, with EST working hours; ideally based in the Charlotte, NC area

Salary: $105,000–$115,000 USD annually for candidates based in Washington State

What you will do

• Identify high-friction operational workflows and design automated or agent-driven solutions.
• Build AI agents, orchestration workflows, tool integrations, and human-in-the-loop systems using Azure AI technologies and agent frameworks.
• Transform prototypes and proofs of concept into secure, scalable, observable production services.
• Develop RESTful APIs, backend services, integrations, authentication, and authorization using Azure, .NET, C#, Python, and SQL.
• Build evaluation, quality, observability, CI/CD, and rollback infrastructure for AI systems.
• Partner with engineers, program managers, stakeholders, and end users to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience focused on cloud-based applications.
• Strong proficiency with .NET, C#, Python, and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, AI services, prompt engineering, and productionizing AI-powered features or automation.
• Experience with Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Logic Apps, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, and Azure DevOps.
• Experience designing secure applications with Entra ID and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Agent Framework, Semantic Kernel, LangGraph, or MCP.
• Experience with multi-agent coordination, tool design, and LLM evaluation harnesses.
• Experience converting internal prototypes or manual processes into supported production services.
• Front-end development experience with React.
• Experience with distributed systems, enterprise integrations, responsible AI, and compliance reviews.
