AI Engineer (Generative AI)

Location: Must be currently located in Atlanta, GA or Washington, DC; hybrid onsite work in Atlanta, GA.

Salary: USD $105,000–$120,000 per year.

What you will do

• Build and enhance production generative AI applications and web-based AI solutions.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation systems, knowledge assistants, chatbots, and agentic workflows.
• Use Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Foundry Agent Service, APIs, enterprise data sources, databases, cloud services, and MCP-based tools.
• Develop secure cloud-native services and user interfaces with Python, web frameworks, containers, and Azure services.
• Test, evaluate, trace, and monitor AI applications to improve quality, reliability, latency, and cost.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, AI and data engineers, software engineers, and DevSecOps teams.

Requirements

• Current location in Atlanta, GA or Washington, DC and ability to work onsite when needed.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, web application development, data engineering, data science, machine learning, or a related discipline.
• At least 1 year of experience building generative or agentic AI solutions, including LLM APIs, prompt engineering, tool calling, structured outputs, RAG, or agents.
• Experience with Python, APIs, backend services, data pipelines, web frameworks, REST, JSON, authentication, cloud platforms, Git, and Agile/Scrum practices.
• Knowledge of LLM fundamentals, including tokens, context windows, prompts, model parameters, embeddings, retrieval, and response evaluation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust or suitability determination; U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Containerized and cloud-native application development with Docker, Azure Container Apps, Azure App Service, or similar services.
• MCP integrations, multi-agent systems, LLM evaluation, tracing, monitoring, observability, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Experience in government, healthcare, or other regulated environments.
• Exposure to open-source LLM fine-tuning, hosting, model-serving frameworks, AI governance, and responsible AI.
• Experience with Microsoft Agent Framework, LangGraph, PydanticAI, or similar agent frameworks.
