Senior Staff Engineer Software (Cortex Platform)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; hybrid work with most teams working from the office full time.

What you will do

• Lead backend features and core components through design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Design, build, and maintain high-scale distributed server-side applications.
• Develop, scale, and improve shared Cortex infrastructure and components.
• Collaborate across teams, contribute to technical and architectural decisions, and participate in code and design reviews.
• Engage with customers to understand operational challenges and deliver robust technical solutions.
• Improve system architecture, implementation quality, reliability, and maintainability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience designing and building scalable server-side applications.
• Experience with both relational database management systems and NoSQL databases.
• Experience designing and working with distributed cloud products and microservices architectures.
• Proficiency in Python or Go.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
