Junior Full Stack Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Newark, NJ; hybrid work with attendance at the Newark office twice a week

Salary: $85,000–$90,000 USD per year; bonus eligible

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain full-stack features using JavaScript, React, Stencil.js, Java, and Spring Boot.
• Build accessible, reusable UI components and integrate them with secure backend services and REST APIs.
• Translate user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical designs into maintainable code.
• Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; investigate defects and support continuous quality improvement.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with product owners, designers, quality engineers, architects, and senior developers.
• Support production troubleshooting, release management, observability, security, and performance improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
• 1–3 years of relevant software-development experience, including internships, co-op assignments, academic projects, or professional work.
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript and React, plus familiarity with Stencil.js or a comparable web-component framework.
• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for backend applications or RESTful API development.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive design, accessibility, REST APIs, JSON, Git, databases, application security, automated testing, and Agile/Scrum practices.
• Curiosity about generative AI and the ability to apply AI responsibly across software development activities; requires attendance at the Newark, NJ office twice a week.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, microservices, cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, or DevOps.
• Exposure to test automation, test-driven development, or behavior-driven development.
• Projects, coursework, certifications, or practical experience involving generative AI, machine learning, AI coding assistants, or agentic workflows.
• Interest in financial technology, regulated environments, enterprise platforms, or customer-facing digital products.
