Structural Engineer IV (Life Sciences)

Location: San Diego, CA, USA; the role includes recurring field surveys, site walks, and construction field reporting.

Salary: USD 130,000–170,000 yearly

What you will do

• Lead discipline-specific structural design scopes and budgets for small to mid-sized projects.
• Develop construction drawing packages and specifications with limited oversight.
• Conduct field surveys and site walks, prepare construction reports, and document non-compliant existing conditions.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Lead design reviews and squad checks, support proposals and master planning, and contribute to training presentations.
• Mentor Engineer I and Designer I/II team members.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Advanced experience with engineering calculations, structural system design, structural material codes, and applicable building codes.
• Proficiency in structural engineering software and structural design calculations with limited supervision.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Ability to perform field surveys, site walks, and construction field reporting in the San Diego area.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience creating internal discipline design and engineering training presentations.
• Experience troubleshooting discipline and systems issues.
