Software Engineer 2 (Java/Vue)

What you will do

• Design, develop, document, test, debug, integrate, and sustain applications for the Navy Continuous Training Environment and Navy Training Baseline.
• Develop and enhance JSAF features supporting fleet, joint, and unit-level live-virtual-constructive training.
• Build Java and JavaScript applications on Red Hat Linux using IntelliJ or comparable IDEs.
• Collaborate with program engineering leadership, end users, developers, subject matter experts, equipment designers, and hardware engineers.
• Prepare technical briefings, project plans, system specifications, reports, operating instructions, and user documentation.
• Contribute to software infrastructure improvements, technical proposals, integration activities, and project milestones.

Requirements

• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance are required.
• On-site support in Norfolk, Virginia, is required as needed.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, a relevant master's degree with 0 years of experience or a high school diploma with 6 years of relevant experience.
• Strong Java and object-oriented development skills, including multithreaded application development and Java debugging.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, Git, JavaScript, Vue.js or Sencha ExtJS, unit testing, and Agile practices.
• Familiarity with systems engineering, LVC simulation architectures, secure coding, CI/CD, databases, and software build or messaging frameworks.

Nice to have

• Security+ and Linux+ certifications or ability to obtain them.
• Experience with C/C++ and C4I systems.
• Knowledge of TENA, HLA, DIS, Gradle, Apache ActiveMQ, OSGi, Jenkins, SonarQube, and DISA ASD STIG practices.
