Director, Application Engineering (Power Generation)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop Application Engineering, Technical Support, and Sales Engineering teams.
• Oversee technical sales support for industrial dealers, sales teams, national accounts, and end customers.
• Guide application design and product support across generator sizing, alternators, controls, electrical codes, standards, and product configurations.
• Manage special engineering quotations and coordinate custom solutions with dealers, Engineering, and Product Management.
• Drive resolution of complex customer technical issues and advocate for product enhancements based on market needs.
• Oversee Power Design Pro, GenConnect, installation guidelines, technical documentation, sales drawings, 3D models, BIM files, and other sales enablement tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 12+ years of experience in Power Generation, Controls, Alternators, Application Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience managing technical and engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of generator sizing, power system applications, controls, electrical codes, and alternator technologies.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer relationship management skills.
• Experience supporting industrial dealer networks, technical sales organizations, national accounts, and cross-functional product teams.

Nice to have

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer registration.
• MBA or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and technical sales enablement resources.
