Focus on operating laboratory equipment, resolving collection issues, maintaining quality records and supporting patient-focused care.
Location: Client site in Barrington, Illinois, United States. Part-time, 34 hours per week. Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Salary: $19.81–$26.74 per hour.

What you will do
- Perform venipuncture and other laboratory specimen collections according to age-related standards and departmental procedures.
- Process, label, centrifuge, aliquot, freeze and package specimens while maintaining sample stability and integrity.
- Review physician orders and enter laboratory tests accurately in multiple systems.
- Verify test result receipt, retrieve patient information and complete laboratory reception and clerical duties.
- Monitor refrigerator temperatures, quality records, equipment operation and outstanding orders.
- Communicate specimen-collection issues to laboratory and physician staff while maintaining safe biohazard practices and patient-focused service.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Nationally recognized phlebotomy certification, phlebotomy-school or medical-institution training, at least one year of healthcare phlebotomy experience, or CMA certification.
- Ability to work the stated weekday schedule and occasional Saturday shifts at the client site.
- Strong patient communication, customer service, teamwork, critical-thinking and decision-making skills.
- Ability to follow safety, regulatory, accreditation and organizational compliance standards.
Nice to have
- Experience performing phlebotomy for a broad range of patient types.
- Experience processing and transferring specimens and operating a centrifuge.
- Familiarity with medical EMR systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
