IT Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Fully remote within the United States; up to 10% travel for company meetings, events, or other business needs.

Salary: $115,000–$125,000 annually plus bonus

Education technology company building secure tools for single sign-on, usage analytics, and automated rostering for schools, students, and educators.

What you will do

• Manage security controls across corporate endpoints, networks, firewalls, VPN, DNS filtering, and Zero Trust access.
• Administer and monitor EDR, SIEM, identity and access management, MFA, DLP, encryption, and related security tools.
• Investigate alerts, conduct threat hunting, coordinate incident response, and lead post-incident reviews.
• Identify vulnerabilities, oversee remediation and patching, and monitor configuration drift.
• Maintain security standards, hardening guidelines, policies, baseline configurations, documentation, and compliance evidence.
• Conduct access and vendor reviews, develop security metrics, support awareness programs, and maintain the internal security roadmap.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.
• Strong knowledge of endpoint, network, identity, access, and data security practices.
• Experience with firewalls, VPN, DNS filtering, Zero Trust, MFA, patch management, encryption, and DLP.
• Familiarity with NIST, CIS Controls, SOC 2, and ISO 27001, plus experience with vendor risk assessments and audits.
• Must be based in the United States and able to travel up to 10% for business needs.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in information security, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience securing Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Windows, macOS, Google Workspace, and enterprise SaaS applications.
• CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or an equivalent security certification.
