Data & Artificial Intelligence Research Engineer, L4 (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States. Legal eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Annual salary: $182,000–$210,000 USD for full-time employees based in the United States.

A product company developing a no-code SaaS platform that uses AI and chemically aware data management to accelerate the development of sustainable materials and chemicals.

What you will do

• Write, maintain, test, and improve Python-based machine learning code and core libraries.
• Research, prototype, and develop materials-aware machine learning models and product features.
• Design high-performance, scalable machine learning systems and analyze model impact and performance.
• Improve model interpretability, inverse design capabilities, and uncertainty quantification methods.
• Collaborate with Product, External Research and Development, and engineering teams from concept through delivery.
• Review code, promote engineering best practices, and mentor other developers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience, or 3+ years with an MS or PhD in a quantitative discipline.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, or a similar programming language.
• Proven experience implementing AI solutions for customers with quantifiable results.
• Experience solving scientific problems with computational techniques and strong knowledge of core machine learning algorithms.
• Ability to write tested, production-quality code and communicate complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Materials science experience or education.
• Extensive statistics knowledge and experience with LLMs, including pre-training or fine-tuning foundation models.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases, and AWS services such as S3, RDS, and SQS.
• Published research establishing expertise in AI/ML, NLP, or computer vision.
