Category Specialist – Procurement and Supply Chain (Mechanical)

Location: Hybrid in Quebec City, Canada, with three days per week onsite at 3400 rue Pierre-Ardouin

What you will do

• Develop and implement category strategies for mechanical components, including machined parts, castings, forgings, sheet metal, plastics, fabricated assemblies, enclosures, and hardware.
• Lead RFQs, supplier evaluations, market analysis, commercial negotiations, contract management, and sourcing initiatives.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance across quality, delivery, responsiveness, cost, and capacity.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities through negotiations, supplier competition, value engineering, productivity initiatives, and should-cost analysis.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, develop contingency plans, and support capacity, demand, engineering change, product transfer, and lifecycle activities.
• Lead supplier development, corrective actions, continuous improvement, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Logistics, and Operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Production or Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Bilingual French and English required; English is needed to communicate with suppliers and stakeholders outside Quebec.
• Strong experience sourcing mechanical commodities and understanding machining, fabrication, stamping, casting, injection molding, welding, and assembly processes.
• Experience with category strategy, supplier relationship management, commercial negotiations, cost reduction, and supplier performance improvement.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, technical specifications, and Bills of Materials, with experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
