Senior Software Engineer, C++ (NMS)

Location: Remote from the USA for residents of CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA; hybrid work is available through offices in Austin, Texas, and Tampa, Florida. Chicago city limits are excluded; onsite interviews may be required.

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year for roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, or New York.

What you will do

• Build and maintain cross-platform software for Windows and Linux using C++, Qt, native platform APIs, and POSIX facilities.
• Develop network discovery, device information collection, and network health monitoring capabilities.
• Implement and troubleshoot SNMP, SSH, ICMP, WMI, and other network and device-management protocols.
• Design high-performance concurrent software and asynchronous workflows for communication with thousands of devices.
• Own unit, integration, and system-level testing while optimizing reliability and resource usage.
• Collaborate with backend, UI, QA, and product teams to resolve complex cross-platform and network issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of C++ development experience, including C++14 or newer and production-quality systems software.
• Proficiency with Qt and CMake, and experience developing for Windows, Linux/POSIX, and cross-platform environments.
• Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, asynchronous programming, network programming, and network protocols.
• Experience debugging application, operating-system, and network-layer issues and creating comprehensive test plans.
• Experience working on complex, highly critical systems with operating-system, network, and device-specific behavior.
